What is the difference between Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 FX?

My mobo supports both so I am wondering what is the difference and decide which one to get.

The FX chips are much faster. And much more expensive. A close analogy would be like comparing a Pentium to a Celeron.

See http://www.amd.com
Try these two comparison charts:
Althon 64 FX: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...E10756,00.html
Athlon 64: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...E10248,00.html
