Synaptic

I installed Synaptic and Apt but while I am trying to update or download any packages, I am finally failed. I even cannot update itself. I have followed exactly the Guide's instructions and I don't have idea what is wrong...

PS: I love yum!!!

If you dont' tell exactly what's wrong (error messages, etc.), we can't help you. yum is great but so is synaptic. You may also want to try SmartPM.

the repository is not down... so to speak. But the folder (and subfolders) for FC3 are gone. 1 & 2 are still there.

very interesting indeed

Try a mirror, as posted above. But... since maybe you dont have one in your list, there are many to chose from at the apt website... and add it in. Easiest way to do it is copy one of the FC3 ones that already exist (with core update extra etc), and make the slight change in website. ayo.freshrpms.net to ayo.freshrpms.uk for example. The path to the files are the same. I tried the uk one earlier, and everything worked... just extreeeemly slow.

I noticed a problem with several mirrors over the last 2 or 3 days. For instance one mirror did not list any files within the FC3 updates folder, but today they are all there and up to date. It may be or have been a momentary problem with the way the mirror system updates itself. I would recommend wait several days to see if the problem in the mirror system work themselves out.

Yep, Freshrpms...down, DAG....up and down. What a nice timing, I just re-installed Fedora and would like to download couple of updates (about 170) but... :/

The people that maintaine the repositories, are they aware of the problems? I've had problems since last saturday. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a central place that would show status's of commonly accessed repositories?

it was mentioned on the freshrpms mailing lists. Not sure what is being done though.

As for a list of mirrors for freshrpms, look here.

I switched mine to ayo.us.freshrpms.net for now and it works fine. The ie mirror didn't seem to work either.

Yup, ayo.us.freshrpms.net works again. Thanx for the mirror's list. Synaptic goes great now!

Cheers,
Druid
