unknown monitor

When i tried to install FC3 (FC3_X86_64) then the probing for monitor type : unknown monitor.

installation stops with no valid info anymore on the screen.

What can be done to solve this issue ?

monitor type BENQ FP937s+

desperatly want ro expierence the 64 bit power of the linux OS,
unfortunately blocked by the screen for the moment.

any valid suggestion to solve this issue is higly appreciated

hi, when you boot with your cd, the are certain screens you can read with F1-F5 if i remember correctly. there you'll find that you can start the installation with certain parameters passed on the kernel, and there's information for hardware probing problems. eg. if you don't want hardware probing during your installation (since it stops at the monitor probing), you could try the 'noprob' parameter.

cann't think of anything else right now. someone with more experience might have a better solution.

Yes tried that also, but i am running in trouble 3 minutes later with the same not interpretable screen and the istallation again blocked.

oh, so its not just the hw probs, the screen is unreadable.

ok, did you read these screens carefully? cause i'm sure they cover this as well.
it says about how to set up a custom resolution for the installation. cann't remember the syntax...read all these screens carefully, and if you still can't find it, i'll go get my boot cd and i'll have a look.

Installation-Related Issues

o Certain hardware configurations (particularly those with LCD displays)
may experience problems while starting the Fedora Core installation
program. In these instances, restart the installation, and add the
"nofb" option to the boot command line.

NOTE: Chinese, Japanese, and Korean graphical installations started
using the "nofb" option will start in English, and then switch to the
appropriate language once the graphical phase of the installation
process begins.

if that fails, don't use the anaconda installer and use the 'text' option to install. the end result will be the same. the only difference is that you won't see the fancy graphics during the installation. not a big deal.
