Thumbs up Mini Mac FC 4.2 DVD recepie

I am on my way to do this:
-torrent to burn a DVD
-hold c at boot of mac
-run as text: linux text
-BootApple has to be 1st partition
--in 640x480 X won't start.
-I somehow got to root in text
-ran up2date and yum
-mounted cd w/ yellowdog xconfig...

So far, looks like it will work....

OK, so... the Xautoconfig part rpm that I downloaded did not fix X.
The system works fine in console mode!
But .... somone help me fix X please.

(also, is there a way to rig some version of Java 1.5 ? )

Interesting that you got it to work.... (even if it is w/o X)
What is the output from issuing the "startx" command?

I foget. I went to Yellow Dog that works.

(unbutnu also works, and gentoo works w/o X)
