Question about mail function

Is it possible to use the mail function of php on Fedora when you don't have a mailserver? If I do need a mailserver, how can I make it use an other port then port 25 (it is blocked)?

You can let a mailserver run on another port then 25, for more info see this link

I think you need something like sendmail or qmail, but I don't know for certain.
