How to play movies in Fedora Core 3 ?

I've heard about Totem player but it doesn't work it's just do not want play an AVI movies so, is there any "codecs" for this player?
I was at this page http://fedoranews.org/blog/?p=509 and have done step 2 of the installation procces describer there,,,
Maybe it just about the Preparations section I haven't done? For the truth of th things I dont know how to do it
especially about "livna" thing (what is ivna anyway?)...
So if some one be so kind and explain me whats this all about it'll be very lovely

See www.fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware

Use the yum.conf provided there, then do the following:

Become root
Code:
su -
Remove the gstreamer powered totem
Code:
rpm -e totem
Install the xine powered totem for playback of almost all types of movies.
Code:
yum install totem-xine
This should have you set up with a powerful totem movie player that can play almost anything.

Hi,
I use Mplayer for all my movies and songs. (Actually, XMMS for audio and GMplayer, the graphical Mplayer for movies. It's great )
