When you peek into the spec file you'll find:
Without modifications to the spec file = no

What do you mean by

Your original question was
Quote:
#rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 kernel-2.6.spec
rpmbuild -bp --target=althlon kernel-2.6.spec

? can it be used?
And that question was answered.

I mean what is this option going to do? I have to change to "no" or what? moreover is it going to be useful to make it with athlon ?

btw: I am VERY not good with kernel spec files

actually it seems to me it's not a valid option:
Supported Architectures: 386, 486, 586, 686, AMD x86-64

My answer says you (enhanced on) can not (enhanced off) build the kernel with the --target=athlon option using the kernel-2.6.spec file that came with the srpm.

In order to build a kernel with --target=athlon you would need to create the appropriate kernel-2.6.10-athlon.config, copy it into the redhat/SOURCES directory and re-work the whole spec file.

I am not sure if it is worth the time because it might be that the developers have deleted the athlon specific parts by purpose.
In order to find out why they removed the --target=athlon option you need to get in contact with them.
