GRUB bootloader problem

So I installed Fedora Core 3. While I was getting ready for the setup process and doing the partitioning I was getting some odd error message that some function in disk.c (something like that) had failed. I 'canceled' each one, and the setup process was successful. I installed GRUB to dual boot XP & FC3. I went to reboot the system & GRUB just sits there... "GRUB loading stage2..." and doesn't ever do anything. My specs:

Asus A8V mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
1GB Corsair DDR400 dual channel memory
1x 180GB HDD
1x 120GB HDD
1x 60GB HDD
1x 40GB HDD
SB Live! Value sound card
Promise ATA100 PCI IDE adapter (FDC3 is installed on /dev/hde)

One note... Before I upgradd to the athlon 64 & A8V mobo, I had a dual p3 setup. That installed & booted just fine with the same HDD layout as now...

I think this have something to do with the how the linux see the harddrive geometry. boot the your computer BIOS and make sure the disk access mode is set to LBA instead of auto. include the BIOS for the Promise card. Then you need to remove all partitions from the disk (for all disks you had used in the install) and reinstall. make sure backup the data you wanted before hand, as re parition will wipe all data out.
