Fedora Core 2 book, Running Fedora Core 3

I've been holding steady with Fedora Core 2 as I've got a book specific to it. I'm really anxious to install Core 3 now though.

The topics in the book that I need to work on (because I'm a screaming noob) are as follows:
  • The Filesystem
  • The Shell
  • Managing User Accounts
  • Security
  • Advanced System Administration
  • Rebuilding the Linux Kernel
  • Managing Your System with Perl

I'm hoping that these above topics will not be Core 2 specific and will be the same thing on Core 3. I'm about to re-build my system as per Miles Brennan's HOW TO and am thinking that I should load up Core 3. I'm also at 84.0% of the Core 3 ISOs download via bittorrent.

I just want to be sure that I'm not going to install Core 3 and render my Core 2 book usless.
