I have searched and tried just about everything that I can think of. Here is what I want to do:
When I determine that I want to print a page (from where-ever I happen to be) I want to be able to select a Print-To-File print driver and that it will print to a PDF file. No command lines - no messing around - just go and do it. I have search this forum and the internet generally and I know about ps2pdf etc but this needs to be totally transparent to teh end user. I have a real simple print driver (PDF995) that I use on a windows system that does exactly what I want but I can't find or understand what I need to do to get something similar for Linux.
I have tried installing a number of different PS printers but none of the drivers that I have used offer a print to file option. Even if I could do this it would be a step in the right direction. At least then I could convert it to a PDF manually.
I know that if I am in OO I can eport to a PDF, but that does not help if I'm in a different application.
My frustration level is rising exponentially - does not help that I'm a Linux Newbie.
