There must be 5 ways posted to install/update ATI drivers kernel-modules etc. I have some experience with linux and in the past have managed to fumble through some difficult installs but you have gotten me totally confused this time.
From the beginning:
AMD64 3200 mhz on an ASUS A8V-E deluxe mb
1 gig of ram
ATI x600 pci-e video card, Dell 17" FP in digital mode
80 gig SATA HD for WinXP
33 gig IDE HD for linux
DVD RW
CD rom
Installed FC3 x86_64 from DVD. Had to use "linux text". Can run FC3 only in init 3 mode, or I get a blank screen when it loads "x". Have lan to the i-net (via an add on pci card, FC3 will not see the mb lan or wireless lan). I can run yum no problem. I have downloaded various fglrx drivers per postings etc. but to be frank I am confused on what to do first, second, third. Had tried a number of things, run some rpm and yum installs (including a complete yum update) but no joy, so I have started over again now back to just having installed FC3 (2.6.9-1.667) off of the DVD, added KEY for yum and confirmed yum works. So how about some nice simple instructions on how to get the ATI X600 to work?
