Changing $PATH

This should be a relatively simlple problem to solve:

My path variable does not seem to include the binaries in the /sbin, as well as a couple of other misc. folders. I can usually rectify the proble by the command:


$ PATH=$PATH:/sbin;

However, when I close konsole [I'm using KDE, if thats important], the PATH variable resets. How do I get my PATH variable to stay at a particular value.

Other details: I'm using FC2, Kernel 2.6.5

You can add that in your .bash_profile, assuming you are using bash...
PATH=$PATH:/sbin
export PATH

I am using BASH, but this doesn't seem to work. export PATH does not give any error, but It doesn't seem to work. Maybe it is a permission problem, any Idea where this is saved [must be some file], or any other ideas?
