Where Is Kernel Source Code

Does anyone know what directory the kernel source code is located under in FC3? Is the kernel source package even installed or do I have to install a new kernel?

if you have the correct packages installed the source is found under /usr/src

The kernel source code is no included on a FC3 install, however EVERY linux distribution gets it's kernel from

http://www.kernel.org/

If you are comfortable building a kernel from source, then it is not that big of a deal to download and install a kernel from there. (yes, "make xconfig", "make ", "make install" etc, all work the same on kernels from www.kernel.org)

There are many reasons why, and discussions about why the kernel source isn't included in FC3, you can google it if you want some more info.

As of FC3, kernel source rpm are not provided. You could download your source from kernel.org, but that code won't match what you're actually running (fedora patches the kernels it distributes).

Grabbing the .src.rpm is the recommended way to do it (detailed in FC3 release notes).
