Still can't get my palm pilot tungsten T5 to synch with evolution
Tried just about everything in the previous posts. /dev/ttyUSB0 and 1 are created, with correct permissions, but evolution refuses to talk to the device - the T5 just times out after a bit. pilot-xfer sometimes works, but unreliably (have to press the hot-sync button, then quickly hit enter on my box to start pilot-xfer and only then will it work).
Any ideas folks?
Thanks in advance,

See if this might be of some help:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome.../msg00041.html
Make sure to read the entire thread...there are a couple more messages after the one I linked. Also, it appears that the T5 sync is still a bit iffy right now. From pilot-link.org website:

After almost 16 months of waiting, the first new version of pilot-link is now available for testing. The last version of pilot-link, 0.11.8, was released back in September of 2003. Its been a long time coming!
In this release, a lot has changed. The commandline tools are much more stable, the main library now supports many more devices and platforms, and code has been refactored and cleaned up in a LOT of places, and MANY other things have been added or removed.
...but we're not done yet. This is only a pre-release, and there is still more work to be done before we get to a 0.12.0 final release. Many of us are already using 0.12.0-pre1 daily for our production use. It is very stable, and works well for most current devices that we've had the time and resources to test (this does not include the Palm Tungsten T5, however. There are significant OS-level bugs with that device that are keeping us back at the moment, from supporting it fully).[...]

Yes! Google is very much my friend, and it works now. If anyone else is in this situation, the final piece of the puzzle is adding the following line to /usr/share/gnome-pilot/devices.xml:
<device vendor_id="0830" product_id="0061"/>
(Make sure you do the appropriate thing with udev - see previous other posts on the topic).
Thanks Bob!

You are most welcome cdyson37...glad you found your answer!
If I may ask...you've now got the T5 syncing the calendar, tasks, and contacts to Evolution? I ask as my Tungsten T just broke...the stylus silo broke inside and Palm wants $125US to repair. So I'm now thinking of investing in a T5 myself.
Thanks!
Bob

*Seems* to be working, although I've had a little trouble with the ToDo list (created some blank todos for some reason), contacts have synced fine. There's nothing in my calendar yet so I haven't been able to test it (still carrying bits of paper around with me). It's a good machine overall, but you'll want to install the OS update, and you'll need a windows box to do it.
