Ugh Windows must be Destroyed...Who wants to help?

Okay I've had alot of friends switch over from the dreaded monopoly over to Linux and for my New Years Resolution I promised my self to follow suit. The problem is is that I use alot of programs made in VB and with my understandings its not possible to run VB in Linux. I've heard of something along the lines of a Windows Emulator does such a thing exist? If so where can I download and how can I use. Also I'm running Fedora Core 2, is there anyway to get APT-GET for my Distro?
Thanks for your time.

Check out gambas -> http://gambas.sourceforge.net/
It's a Visual Basic for Linux.

You can emulate windows programs with wine -> http://www.winehq.com/

And sure you can install apt-get on FC2.

Find an apt rpm here -> http://rpm.pbone.net

Why not to use Linux alternatives to those programs?

You tell us what programs you need to do what tasks, we'll point out the Linux alternatives.

Alternatively, you could try re-installing them to run under Wine. I'd give it a 50% chance of success.

Got a point

Okay well one of the programs I use deff. doesn't have an alternative...Its called Phalanx (bhlabs.com) and its like a 2d chat program. Programs commonly used on Windows were/are....Dreamweaver, Adobe PS, also I play alot of games on Windows like C&C(Command and Conquer) and things to that effect.
