Question Dual Head on ATI Mobility U1 under FC1?

Greetings,
I have installed Fedora Core 1 on a Compaq Presario 900 EA and was pleasantly surprised to see most stuff work out of the box (after adding acpi=on to the kernel arguments). However, I am not able to configure XFree86 to work in dual head mode using the panel and an external monitor.

More precisely: I can get XFree86 to create two screens, :0.0 and :0.1, but the external monitor on :0.1 blanks off (says "no signal").

Any suggestions, including places where more information can be found ?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Davide Bolcioni

I tried the "radeon" XFree86 driver as found in the FC1 distribution updates. Do you mean proprietary ATI drivers ?

Hi dbolcioni,

Maybe this thread will be useful?
http://fedoranews.org/hoyt/multi-head/

BTW, I like your sig. Shouldn't it be " There's no place like /home" though? If I remember correctly, that's the phrase Dorothy says. Just a suggestion. :o

Just in case someone finds them useful, here are my XFree86 config attempts. One works, but provides no dual head; the second "almost" provides dual head, although the monitor stays blank; the third is just a backup.
