Fedora or Redhat Workstation
Hello
I'll be installing Fedora Core 1 next weekend (I have my programming exam on Thursday so now is not a good time)
If I like Fedora would there be any reason for me to look at Redhat Workstation in the future? I'm only asking because I'm trying to start up a web development business (with ColdFusion MX) and I'm thinking I should learn PHP at some stage.
Thanks
pamount

I'd stick with Fedora. And i'd get your hands on a copy of Fedora Core 2, which is the latest edition.

Sorry, why are you installing FC1 and not FC2?
I don't think, that there will be great differences between Fedora and RH-Workstation. As far as I read it is going to be a distri for bussiness purposes, so it will have telefon support. I don't think a little bussiness will need something like that and Fedora will be enough.
I'm not sure, but ColdFusion MX sound very like something you can only do with Windows.

Hi
I'm installng FC1 because that's what I have the CD's for. I have a lot of bills to pay at the moment so I'll wait until they are out of the way before I look at getting FC2 (or FC3 as the case may be). There's a place where I can get Linux distros (on CDs and DVDs) that's not far from where I live
I did say that I am thinking of learning PHP (as well as ColdFusion MX). Though my main reason for installing FC1 (or any version of Linux) is to learn to use Linux. I just think that my being a part time IT student means I have no excuse for not knowing something about Linux.
It's interesting what you said about Redhat Workstation. I guess I'll just stick to Fedora.
Thanks

then FC1 is also ok. Don't forget to install an apache with php and mysql, so you can test you php scripts on 127.0.0.1 it's really comfortable.

while it sounds like pamount has made his/her mind up, Ild just like to add this for anyone who stumbles across this thread:
I recently read an article (I think in LinuxJournal) comparing Redhat and SuSe's server offerings. The only difference the reviewer saw between fedora and Red Hat enterprise server was Red Hat came with support and manuals. In fact he said that for an experienced admin there is no difference what so ever.
Going on using Red Hat's server offering's simularity with Fedora, I'ld say that unless you want/need manuals and telephone support all wraped up in a pretty box (some companies just feel better paying for software and getting support) I'ld stick with fedora and turn here (or other comunity sites) for support.
