Fedora 1st login password not working

i just got a new hard drive for my fedora server and finally got fedora to install properly. when i restart the system to log in i get 'not authenticated' from the login screen. i tried logging in to the root password which i used during the installation with no luck. then i also tried logging in with the user name and password i created once the system restarted and asked me for one. my question is can someone explain to me how to reset my password so i can get on to my root account. i already searched the forums for password reseting posts and i tried all of them with no luck. so could someone please explain to me step by step how to go about this? Thanx in advance!!

Drew

have you do a md5sum check before you burn the ISO(s)?

have you try the media check when you insert cd 1?

is your cd-rom functioning properly?

yup everything was working fine. i did a media check on all the cds. i also checked the cds with msum5 before i took them over to the server. the drive is brand new from tiger direct a month ago and i've never had a problem with it before.
