5.1 Surround for OGG / MP3

I'm trying to make surround OGG/MP3s for my 5.1 speakers. I searched the net for a bit and found some people saying it's possible to do this with oggenc (which grip uses) by setting the number of channels )which defaults to 2). "man oggenc" says -C <number of channels> switch is the way to set the number of channels. Well, I tried this in grip with number of channels set to 6 and 5. However, instead of 5.1 sound what I get is a song encoded at 384 kbps or 430 kbps which sounds funny obviously.

Does anybody know how I can make 5.1 surround OGG / MP3s?
