Just to let everyone know.. I am working on method 2..
Its going to be a little longer due to not using a GUI.. But we are Linux users, we don't need no stinking GUI's..

(By the way if you find my HOWTO helpful, please add to my reputation.)

Thanks for reading!

Howto: NFS for newbies

the howto says:
Quote:
Go to Applications --> System Settings --> Server Settings --> NFS
I am running the save fc3
When I go to Applications--->System Settings--->ServerSettings
I see two entries: Samba and Services; no NFS.

Inquiry yields:
Quote:
[root@localhost ~]# service nfs status
rpc.mountd (pid 3156) is running...
nfsd (pid 3150 3149 3148 3147 3146 3145 3144 3143) is running...
rpc.rquotad (pid 3134) is running...
[root@localhost ~]# service smb status
smbd is stopped
nmbd is stopped
[root@localhost ~]#
It appears I'm missing something ---- can anyone help

Thanks,
gary

Sorry Gary,
you'll need to install system-config-nfs from your installation disk (From the NFS section) or by using apt, yum, or synaptic.
I personally like using synaptic, its retard proof, which means there is no way I can screw it up..lol

If you chose to use synaptic, you'll want to install apt first and then synaptic. You should see it appear in your System Settings section of your applications menu (if you are using Gnome)

APT RPM

SYNAPTIC RPM

Thanks to freshrpms.net for the files..

Question No *nfs*.pdf here.

Umm. I think you forget to link the correct document here. Being a slave of M$ I can only see the newbieVIM.pdf file which AFAIK is not a NFS how to doc.

Can you please link the correct document here.

Thanks.
