Network Taskbar Icon??

I was looking through the add panel part of Gnome and noticed that you can have a modem and wireless connection activity monitor.

I would find it very handy if there was one for just the standard 10/100 connection??

Like on windows where you get the blinking taskbar leds beside the clock showing activity. This would be worth having in linux (for me anyway)

Anyone any ideas on how to activate it ?

John

if i understand you correcty you want to see the network traffic with a taskbar utility.

this is a piece of cake. right click on the panel, select add to panel, utility, and system monitor. this will add a kind of black box showing your processor use. right click on it and select preferences. there lies "network" checkbox. check it. if you don't want to monitor your cpu use, deselect processor checkbox.

that's it.

i suggest you to right click. and check what is available to add the panel there are very useful utilities you can use.
