XMMS and Mp3 Support Done Easy

Here is how I restored Mp3 Support to XMMS in Fedore Core 2

1. download this: http://www.osnews.com/files/xmms-mp3-fc1.tar.gz
2. tar -zxvf xmms-mp3-fc1.tar.gz
3. Copy the so lib file (as root) to /usr/lib/xmms/Input
4. Restart xmms

[My appologies if this has been posted already. I'm a n00b.]

Another possibility:
1. Take livna.org in your yum or apt
2.type as root
Code:
yum install xmms-mp3
or
Code:
apt-get install xmms-mp3

Or you can make it this way:
1. Download this file : http://rpm.livna.org//fedora/2/i386/...n.2.2.i386.rpm
2. Type in the location of the file as root :
Code:
rpm -ihv xmms-mp3-1.2.10-0.lvn.2.2.i386.rpm
I think all the ways lead to a success, so not way is the only correct one.

I love how you help people, and I love that you post useful things, but please read the f.a.q. before you post. If it's already covered in the f.a.q. another how-to isn't needed.

Haven't got FC2 installed yet. Will this same rpm work with FC1?

Thanks a lot. The 2.2 works on FC1 too!

Just that the volume is kind of soft. Pump up the speaker vol to the max but still quite soft. Why so?
