Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

The upgrade went flawlessly, and now I see:
Code:
$ cat /etc/fedora-release
Fedora release 25 (Twenty Five)

$ uname -r
4.9.10-200.fc25.x86_64
But, what do other users see for the following command in F25?
Code:
$ sudo dnf list installed | grep fc24 | wc -l
465
I've seen a few left overs before, but 465 seems larger than I remember.

Re: Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

476 here on this machine. It just means that a bunch of f25 packages have been carried over from f24, in other words, the f25 versions of those packages are the f24 ones, which may or may not have been updated during the time of f24. So, this means that they are not "left over" at all, but form part of the f25 distribution.

949 here on a system that's been upgraded every version since the original fc20 installation, that runs as a desktop and server.

Re: Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

I have 440 listed with the above command. Not bad really (and that's with a fresh Cinnamon install with RPMFusion and Remi repos added after).

As F25 continues to evolve, the remaining F24 pkgs will either begin to upgrade or will upgrade to F26 when the release date for F26 approaches. That's just my observation and experience from previous releases.

Re: Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

It's normal to have those. As I recall, they didn't do a mass re-build between F24<->F25
so lots of things were never updated. There is a mass re-build between F25<->F26 though,
so there will be less of that in the next update.

Re: Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

I think I have you all beat for old (and new) garbage installed

Code:
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc25| wc -l
6122
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc24| wc -l
2415
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc23| wc -l
77
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc22| wc -l
32
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc21| wc -l
33
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc19| wc -l
20
[root@tower20 ~]# rpm -qa | grep fc18| wc -l
3

This is on my test box that hasn't had a clean install done since F18, and I throw all kinds of crap on it to check things out.

I think I need to clean house

Re: Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

I have upgraded from f24 to f25. Libreoffice was not working (opening slowly) correctly. hanging frequently. System also appeared booting/working slow.
ultimately fresh installed. Now everything looks ok.

Re: Lots of fc24 packages left after dnf system-upgrade

I'm was on F24 (Chapeau), and following a system-upgrade I have half the software indicating F24, and earlier.
If it works, why recompile, or rename?
