I've finally made the full switch!

After a few months of messing around, first with knoppix, then suse, then fc2, and finally to fc3, I've decided to move entirely to linux. Today, I deleted my windows partition.

feels good... =)

Congrats on your conversion. I have been using Linux exclusively for some time, and I see no reason to use Windows.

Unfortunally for me I have to use MS at work and I do depend on it for some apps. Dont want to mess with wine so ocassianally I boot into it. But my laptop and desktop and home are fedora. My kids still use xp.

I'm fairly new to linux aswell. I have kept my windows partition only because of all the songs I have in it, Nice to see more people leaving windows behind. (funny that Fedora Core 3 did it for me too...untill then I was just playing aeound with Linux)

yeah~! I've also made a nearly full switch to Linux few days ago!
feel so exciting and satisfied, because I want linux to be my daily desktop few years ago, but just realized recently

now, nearly most of the software/applications I used under windows in the past can be substituted with freewares under linux, and they are even more powerful, beautiful, friendly and customizable~!

keeping windows is just because of the visual studio assignments from school...

Congratulations, mjman!

I just made the switch myself over the holidays.

I'm curious what motivated you to change, and what gave you the most trouble migrating?

For me, the motivation was the laptop I received in the mail from my mother that was riddled with viruses and trojans. I wanted to see if Linux had matured enough to be a viable alternative for her. (I'm still undecided on this, but I have switched over my laptop to get some experience.)

Things I struggled with the most were getting my Canon camera to work
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30536

and using cdrecord (see my post in this thread)
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30584

My biggest "ah ha" was learning how easy it is to use Yum (once configured correctly).

what motivated me to change?

my xp was bootleg and it was acting screwy and i didnt want to fork over $200 for windows and $200 for office

plus, i thought it was high-time i stopped sucking off the windows nipple and got my hands dirty into learning my computer

so i went out and spent $50 for the book with four FC2 cds and the rest is history
(and so is my windows)

anyone know if i will ever see "My Documents" folder again, i would love to get some stuff off of there
