Synaptics/ALPS touchpad in FC3

I've got FC3 installed on my Toshiba A35-S159 laptop, and the one thing I can't figure out how to do is how to disable tapping on the touchpad. I've read around the forums, and I do have the Synaptics driver installed, however it's not in my xorg.conf (in /etc/X11/ nor in /usr/X11R6/lib/server/ ) -- just the normal mouse driver. I tried editing both to include the synaptics (a la http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...f%22+synaptics ) but X never boots. Is there a step missing?
