    I can't fresh install Fedora 22

When I install it it says

Oh no! Something has gone wrong and the system can't recover. All extensions have been disabled as a precaution.

And after log out it says

e-udev[228]:rpcbind: Symbol 'svc_auth_none' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
    [3.756574] scsi 6:0:0:0: alua: Attach failed (-22)
[3.760403] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdb] No Caching mode page found
[3.760527] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through

    the it's [OK]....

The laptop has Fedora 21 installed and runs well, except when it runs Steam it says OpenGL is not configured properly and staff like that. It is pretty old and has a Geforce 9300 GS M

    Re: I can't fresh install Fedora 22

Does it work in basic graphics mode?

    Re: I can't fresh install Fedora 22

If I'm not mistaken, that error message is from Gnome. If you can get logged in with a CLI, you can try installing a different DE, then reboot as usual and log into it instead of Gnome to see if the issue is with Gnome or not. To find out what's available, use this command:

    yum groups list

Then, pick a DE and install it. Just remember that you need to put quotation marks around the group's name, so that yum doesn't get confused by the spaces. As an example, to install Xfce (my personal favorite) you'd do this:

    yum group install "Xfce Desktop"

as root. If you're still getting that error message, it's possible that it's coming from gdm, the Gnome Greeter, but that's something that we can deal with if and when we need to.

I am facing the same issue on my lenovo T530, and i think the problem is with the plymouth rather than DE.

    Re: I can't fresh install Fedora 22

I have the same issue on my System 76 PanP4n (pretty old, from 2009,) during the live session prior to install. Installation program Anaconda won't load at all and mouse doesn't work. I ended up just upgrading to 22 with Fedup instead, although I prefer to fresh install each release. Gnome 3.16 is working well on the resulting upgraded system, so I don't know why it won't work in the installer.

The above message was from anaconda. It seemed to be informative, but harmless

    Re: I can't fresh install Fedora 22

Did anyone find a solution to the problem? I am trying to install fedora (I don't have any existing linux partitions) but I am receiving that error. I tried version 21 and 22, I verified that I tried to install Workstation-x86_64 and that I have intel core 2 duo. Does anyone know what I can do?

If you're using the default LiveCD iso, you're using (or trying to use) Gnome. Try a different spin, with a different Desktop Environment.

Okay, so I will try a different one here: https://spins.fedoraproject.org/ . Just out of curiosity. Why Does Gnome not work for me?

Who knows? With unhelpful error messages like that, there's not much to go on, one of the many reasons I don't use it.

    Re: I can't fresh install Fedora 22

I am new to Fedora and linux in general so forgive me for my ignorance. Is it normal for the default live iso to not work on anyone's machine? If so, is there a way that I can volunteer my (limited) technical knowledge to fix this issue?

I don't think it's "normal" for live isos not to work. But if they don't, there are a number of possible causes. One is bad media, say, a bad cd or dvd or usb. When these media are written/burnt, they can often be checked and verified as good or not. Another problem that may arise is the lack of linux drivers for the hardware being used. If there is an unusual or bleeding-edge video card, there's a chance that the linux kernel doesn't have a driver for it, so some aspect of video may fail. There are ways of using reduced video capability in such cases by adding kernel parameters such as vesa to the kernel boot line and booting into a lower resolution gui. There are anaconda boot options as well to try.

In relation to volunteering one's expertise, I believe that would be most welcome and I guess one place that it would be very useful and appreciated is in these forums. They've certainly been very helpful for me.
