    Xfce 4.11 on Fedora (20, 21 and Rawhide)

    For those of you following Fedora planet, this is probably old news (originally posted here - in my blog). I have a COPR repo for Xfce 4.11. If you are running Fedora 20 and/or Rawhide and interested in testing Xfce 4.11 on Fedora, please add this repository and update your Xfce installation from 4.10 to 4.11.

    Please be aware that Xfce 4.11 is a development release geared towards 4.12.

    The COPR repo is here (if you want to look at list of packages) - https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs...edotc/xfce411/

    Repo details -

    Fedora 20

    [nonamedotc-xfce411]
    name=Copr repo for xfce411 owned by nonamedotc
    baseurl=http://copr-be.cloud.fedoraproject.org/results/nonamedotc/xfce411/fedora-$releasever-$basearch/
    skip_if_unavailable=True

    Rawhide

    enabled=1
    Please use this thread or send me an email (nonamedotc [AT] fedoraproject [DOT] org) if you encounter any bugs. Please do NOT use bugzilla for these packages.

    Thanks for testing! Good luck!

    Thanks for doing that.

    Running fine here for a few days. Rock solid as Xfce always is!

    Cool. Giving this a whirl on my 32 bit install of F20 which lives on an older 160GB hdd all by itself.
    Code:
    .......
    Updated:
      garcon.i686 0:0.3.0-2.fc20               libxfce4ui.i686 0:4.11.1-1.fc20                  libxfce4util.i686 0:4.11.0-1.fc20
      xfce4-about.i686 0:4.11.1-1.fc20         xfce4-appfinder.i686 0:4.11.0-1.fc20             xfce4-panel.i686 0:4.11.0-1.fc20
      xfce4-session.i686 0:4.11.0-1.fc20       xfce4-session-engines.i686 0:4.11.0-1.fc20       xfce4-settings.i686 0:4.11.2-1.fc20
      xfdesktop.i686 0:4.11.5-1.fc20           xfwm4.i686 0:4.11.0-1.fc20

    Complete!

    Thanks folks! Hopefully, nothing will break!

    The only issue I have seen so far is xfce4-power-manager might act up. At times, it will start but will not show up in the notifications - if you kill and restart it, it will show up fine!

    @nonamedotc
    I think it depends on upower 1.0 release and porting of packages that depend on it.

    xfce4-power-manager is the same version as F20 (I think) and upower is the latest version on Rawhide (0.99). So, I am not sure if that's the problem .... may be it is.

    Re: Xfce 4.11 on Fedora (20 and Rawhide)

    I have updated the xfce4-session package with a patch (from xfce-4.10) that I had disabled earlier. If there were any suspend/hibernate issues before, that should be fixed now.

    Re: Xfce 4.11 on Fedora (20 and Rawhide)

    I've been using this for some time now and can report a couple of issues.

    First the latest update to the power manager has broken suspend to ram for me, or to be more accurate it has stopped sleep on lid close. When I try to set that in the system tab of the power manager preferences there is a popup that says 'Suspend and Hibernate operation not supported'. However I can suspend from the Action buttons. Suspend on lid close used to work before the update and continues to work on other desktops.

    Second is a minor issue. In Panel Preferences - Items the name of the items are incorrect. Currently every item except Window Buttons and Separator are named Workspace Switcher.

    All of my panel "items" are listed with correct names.
    Code:
     rpm -q xfce4-panel
    xfce4-panel-4.11.0-1.fc20.i686

    Running the same version as you but 64 bit.

    Thanks for reporting these issue ozjd. I have not had time to look at xfce4-power-manager carefully yet. But I will try to look at it in the next few days.

    If I do get a solution, I will post it here .... again, thanks!

    This is weird. I don't notice it on my 64-bit install ....

    I will see if I can replicate it somehow.

    I see it on a couple of systems but the result is inconsistent. I have moved, removed, recreated and edited panels. I currently have a bottom panel which provided the screenshot and a left side panel which is all launchers, a faux dock.

    Re: Xfce 4.11 on Fedora (20 and Rawhide)

    With Rawhide, I am able to suspend upon lid close without problems. My guess is -- the culprit is likely to be upower versions.

    Let me check further and see what's going on.

    Would it be upower if it works in KDE but not Xfce?
