ndiswrapper hangs my laptop

hello,

i am expieriencing the following problem with ndiswrapper:
i am trying to install a D-Link DWL-G650+ cardbus WLAN adapter with ndiswrapper under Fedora Core 3

the card seems to be working (iwlist wlan0 scan lists the network cells), the activity LED on the card is blinking

unfortunately, the network doesnt't seem to broadcast the SSID and i have no way to turn that on (public campus wlan at my college)
so i enter the command "iwconfig wlan 0 essid <my essid>" - which hangs the system after 1 or 2 seconds

any ideas?
thx in advance

/edit:
here is what lspci prints:

make sure you install 16 stack kernel, fedora kernel is only 4 stack.

Get the RPM here
