Smile How to install Pipelight, very simple, Hi Netflix!

Netflix Fedora Watch Movies & TV Shows Online!

Pipelight is a special browser plugin which allows one to use windows only plugins inside Linux browsers. We are currently focusing on Silverlight, Flash, Shockwave and the Unity Webplayer. The project needs a patched version of Wine to execute the Silverlight DLL.

Pipelight is a special browser plugin which allows one to use windows only plugins inside Linux browsers. We are currently focusing on Silverlight and its features like watching DRM protected videos. The project needs a patched version of Wine to execute the Silverlight DLL. From here.

Pipelight allows [you] to run your favorite Silverlight application directly inside your Linux browser. The project combines the effort by Erich E. Hoover with a new browser plugin that embeds Silverlight directly in any Linux browser supporting the Netscape Plugin API. He worked on a set of Wine patches to get Playready DRM protected content working inside Wine and afterwards created an Ubuntu package called Netflix Desktop. This package allows one to use Silverlight inside a Windows version of Firefox, which works as a temporary solution but is not really user-friendly and moreover requires Wine to translate all API calls of the browser. To solve this problem we created Pipelight.

Pipelight consists out of two parts: A Linux library which is loaded into the browser and a Windows program started in Wine. The Windows program, called pluginloader.exe, simply simulates a browser and loads the Silverlight DLLs. When you open a page with a Silverlight application the library will send all commands from the browser through a pipe to the Windows process and act like a bridge between your browser and Silverlight. The used pipes do not have any big impact on the speed of the rendered video since all the video and audio data is not send through the pipe. Only the initialization parameters and (sometimes) the network traffic is send through them. As a user you will not notice anything from that "magic" and you can simply use Silverlight the same way as on Windows...

This is a request that those of you who have Pipelight working try this website:
    http://www.depgis.state.pa.us/PaOilAndGasMapping/
(Failure is a white screen with a Install Silverlight image/link.)

If you do get to the mapping page, a sample inquiry would be for Permitted Wells - Tioga County - Sullivan Township (municipality) - SWEPI (operator).

(No, I don't think Silverlight was the right choice either, but PA is fond of proprietary MS software.)

Re: How to install Pipelight, very simple

I tried that. Said it needed mttscorefonts installer even though I've installed the microsoft core fonts through FedoraUtils when I first installed F20...wtf ?
    ( error: Error: Package: pipelight-0.2.3-4.1.x86_64 (home_DarkPlayer_Pipelight)
    Requires: msttcore-fonts-installer )
so i tried --skip-broken to install the package and install pipelight anyways, but it tells me pipelight-plugin: command not found when I try to use sudo pipelight-plugin --enable silverlight

These are the packages that were skipped....

for me I did not have ms fonts via fedora util installed before pipelight.
so I follow everything on the instructions and did not skip any. the installation went smooth.

@andy0023 @dswhite85 @AFS Updated for Fedora 20 my friends!, Sorry I can not update this guide after each release, install PostInstallerF and you will receive updates about Pipelight.

If you had PostInstallerF a simple...

    su
    yum install pipelight

@dswhite85 : Do not confuse our Pipelight with other sources, you are mentioning dependencies that are not exactly necessary ...

Our rpm is called 'msttcorefonts' and not 'msttcore-fonts-installer' and is not listed as a dependency of our Pipelight.

Interesting! I shall take a look into this tomorrow and give it a go. I'll report any problems here otherwise I'll be too busy watching Netflix (hopefully) :P

Re: How to install Pipelight, very simple

Hi, I followed the steps above but I am unable to get to watch a video on Netflix. When I click something to watch I can get to the video, but then I am greeted by Error Code N8156-6205, which they say is an internet connection problem...but my network is fine?

    I'm running 64-bit fedora 19.

Any idea how I can fix this?

This is working fine for me, using pipelight 0.2.7.3-3.fc22.x86_64. Played around with the maps a bit, too.

This site works for DRM testing for me, however.

This one also works for Silverlight testing, but not if DRM options are selected. It just sits there acquiring license without change.

The version offered here on this thread didn't work at all for anything on my machine.

For anybody just wanting to watch netflix, you can now do it with native HTML5. All that is required is Google Chrome and an extension to change the user agent string.

    https://plus.google.com/104912707432...ts/1gnbmo63xVa

Instructions above, I use the following user agent string with chrome unstable.

    Code:
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/38.0.2114.2 Safari/537.36
    Works great for me.
    - Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, AMD Ryzen 5900X, Liquid Freezer 360 AIO, 32GB DDR4, MSI-x570 Tomahawk, AMD Radeon 6950 XT running Windows 11
    - GMKtec AMD Ryzen Al Max+ 395, 96GB LPDDR5X 8000MHz running Fedora 44

Re: How to install Pipelight, very simple, Hi Netflix!

bubble test works but when I try to view a web TV stream I got:

    Error opening mms://hostname/path/to/stream.wmv
Message: 4001 An error has occurred.

I can open the same stream with mlayer:

    ASF file format detected.
    ....
Requested video codec family [wmv9dmo] (vfm=dmo) not available.
    Enable it at compilation.
Requested video codec family [wmvdmo] (vfm=dmo) not available.
    Enable it at compilation.

Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders
    ...
Selected audio codec: [ffwmav2] afm: ffmpeg (DivX audio v2 (FFmpeg))

I suspect that some codecs may be missing. Does anyone know which once and where they should be copied to?
