rebuilding 2.6.9-1.667 kernel

hi!

i installed the sources and recompiled the kernel with "better" options for my notebook. now i have the problem that there was made the "package" 2.6.9-prep an so i have many troubles installing new rpms for my kernel (for example ipw2200).

how can i solve this problem?
