Upgrading from FC1 to FC2.

I've read over a number of the posts here on installing, but I am absolutely new to Linux and am still trying to get a grasp on how to do all this, so please bear with me.
Basically, to this point I have been using up2date to upgrade my programs. I've registered with RHN but I am only subscribed to Fedora Core 1 related upgrade channels. Can I upgrade Core 1 to Core 2 using up2date? How do I go about adding channels to up2date and where can I find a list of those channels?
Is yum basically up2date?
Thanks.
Respectfully,
David.

Yum, Apt-get and Up2date. are all generaly the same software. They all update your system and slove dependency problems. All 3 programs use 3 different "databases" as to what servers to ask for new software. To see what servers "yum" uses type in

Code:
cd /etc
nano -w yum.conf
that will give you a list of servers that Yum uses, these are different from Up2Date though.

I believe you can upgrade for major Core to major Core. It could get a lot messy though. I don't know how to upgrade though, someone will come along shortly though.

Welcome to Fedora Linux

:edit: and with that i change from little --> lot

Don't upgrade with yum. It won't work. Get the cds and upgrade using the installer (anaconda).

Has anyone tried upgrading with APT and the dist-upgrade feature?
