No sound output through HDMI - Intel HD Audio

I have an Asus u56 laptop, and I get picture out through the HDMI connection just fine, but I only get sound through the laptop itself.

I'm running F19 with MATE, and I've looked all over for some more advanced system sound configurations, but MATE Volume Control and alsamixer don't really help. This is what I get from running aplay -l, and aplay -L:

    Code:
    [ergoproxy@localhost ~]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC269VB Analog [ALC269VB Analog]
      Subdevices: 0/1
      Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
      Subdevices: 1/1
      Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    Code:
    [ergoproxy@localhost ~]$ aplay -L
    null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)

        HDMI Audio Output

I've seen in some other posts dealing with Intel HD Audio that one has to select a profile in the system sound settings, but I cannot find anything with 'profiles' anywhere in MATE.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Try using "pavucontrol". That "should" let you switch individual application output to HDMI, or make HDMI the default.

I know it's old topic, but I had the same old 'problem' with F20, and "pavucontrol" helped again. Shouldn't it be included in 'Volume Mixer' or something?
