I just figured that FC2 had included a time-warp module...

I also notice this.
Must be the difference between local time and GMT. Makes time zones even more confusing.
Oh, well, my panel has a clock.

This page reads:

All times are GMT -5 hours. The time now is 05:14 AM.
|
...and the latest posts are dated June 10. I'm in Eastern Daylight Time, where it is currently 4:14PM on June 9.
If I change my profile to use GMT instead of GMT -5, it tells me:
...and the latest posts are still dated June 10. This is also the time and date given when not logged in at all. It is actually 9:14PM on June 9 in Greenwich.
There is no profile setting available to make up for the forum being 13 hours fast, so I don't see any way of having either GMT or my local timezone accurately represented.

As a temporary solution, add 11 to your current GMT offset. I'm central, -6, so now I am +5.
I now share a time zone with Islamabad.

Hmm, now I'm at GMT +7 with the forum upgrade. Must be something to do with the automatic daylight savings time. So are we at an offset of +13, or is it -11?
Oh well, just mess with it until the forum time matches your panel clock.

Geez - I've got "All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:37 AM" - I know that's totally off because I'm not alive, much less awake at that ungodly hour!

Must be nice - I don't seem to be able to sleep in any more. One of the consequences of regularly being at work at 5:30AM local, I guess...
Just a couple of minutes ago, I copied this from the Forums page:
All times are GMT -7. The time now is 08:17 AM.
Hmm - I'm actually on Zulu -8 (Pacific Standard Time, Daylight Saving Time), so it should have been 08:17 PM . I know I need a head start to keep up with the fast crowd around here, but this much?

Just moved to Tokyo . . .
Hmmm . . . seems that after a couple of weeks nothing has changed this side of Greenwich.
I solved my particular time problem by moving from Brasilia to Tokyo. So I compensate a 12-hour advancement for the forum's 12-hour lateness.
My side has been satisfactorily workarounded, but . . . don't you admin guys find this issue a bit - uh, well, uh - shameful ? :o :o :o
cheers

Ewdi said he didn't want to solve the problem because it could affect the post database in some way. If it really is too much of a problem then i'm sure we could implement the change.

I might be wrong on what follows, but many OSes and DB sytems have two layers for time management. Lowest-level one can't [or shouldn't] be tinkered with, while the highest one is a mere presentation layer which can be changed at will.
In this case, what we users get to see is the presentation layer, while most or all of date/time values stored in system are tied to that other 'system' time layer which remain unnafeccted by any changes on the 'surface' layer.
Of course, establishing if this is the case of this forum or not would be up to you admins. Above is just my 2 'BR centavos' worth.

As I said below, my workaround is in place and I can leave peacefully with that. But I suppose, since you guys intend to go after linuxquestion's million-post mark, that you'll wish to have this cleaned up before getting there . . .
