TeamViewer in Fedora

Hi, ALL,
After successful install of Fedora 18, the first thing I wanted is to install TeamViewer.
I launched the "Package Manager" and in the search box typed "teamviewer" and hit Enter. It didn't find anything.
Then I opened a browser and tried to download TeamViewer for Fedora. Upon clicking this file I got presented with the dialog "How to open the file?" I chose "Open with Apen" in order to install this application. It then says that this software is not signed and I should install on my own risk. I hit "OK" and I got a message "Error installing the software".

(Sorry if made a mistake. I'm writing from memory from home and the machine is at work)

Does anybody knows how to install it?

Just download the package and install it using yum.

# yum localinstall --nogpgcheck /path/to/teamviewerrpm

Most likely you'll get some more informative output this way..

Note that these days, you no longer need the --localinstall option. (Not sure if you need gpgcheck either, to be honest). Just

yum install <path_to_rpm>

It looks like there is a conflict with some dependancy.

How do I resolve it?

Please try first:

yum install audit

Installing "audit" solves it.
TeamViewer installed successfully.

Now does this mean I need to report it to TeamViewer people or...?

Decide why you want it in the first place.

Just run the winblows ver under wine if you still think you need it. No team-groper rpm install needed.

Hi, ALL,
People here are used to TV, as they running Window$. So for now we prefer to have the same soft all around.

But now I have more interesting problem.
I decided to pull an updates and after I install them, TV does not want to start.
Error message is:

"Verification of your TeamViewer version failed! TeamViewer will quit for securty reasons. Please reinstall TeamViewer."

I did just that:

yum reinstall teamviewer.rpm

but the same error persist.

Everything was working fine before system update.

WHat am I missing?

Look for the hidden folder called (.teamviewer) in your home folder and delete it. Then run the install for teamviewer again.

Should do it.

Quit screwing around. Remove teamview, download the windows version and run it with wine. See post 7.

wget http://download.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewer_Setup_en.exe[/url]
wine ./TeamViewer_Setup_en.exe

Just run it, don't bother installing it.

And no, people are not use to TV. It's crapware.


Late edit: and would someone turn off that gd auto format stuff? I don't want my that line wrapp with URL tags.

Please start teamviewer via the command line. Capture all output and paste it please.

Be VERY sure ~/.teamviewer is not there by actually running the command to delete it. - Then we are sure.

Download the teamviewer rpm from teamviewer and install it. Then run teamviewer from the command line again.

Also, Please do a yum update

Your missing ntlm_auth. This can be found in the following packages:

samba-winbind


ntlm_auth — tool to allow external access to Winbind's NTLM authentication function

Please try installing it and see if your install of teamviewer then works.
