gedit preferences

Under Fedora 19 / Gnome 3.8.2 where are the gedit preferences? Can't find anything that will allow me to set font, colors, etc.

Re: gedit preferences

I see nothing in any of the dropdown menus that will allow on to change preferences.

Re: gedit preferences

Yes, it's moved to that menu, whatever the hell you call it again. It has Preferences, Help, About and Quit.

I think that is one "improvement" too many for me. I'm not intending to upgrade this machine further until I can have E17 on Fedora. There are too many places where I need to use "focus follows mouse" which is pretty incompatible with having a menu on the top bar.

Re: gedit preferences

That menu on the top bar is just one of the reasons I dumped Gnome myself. I could have lived with it, but combined with some of the other things, I decided I was better off using something else.

Re: gedit preferences

I dropped GNOME when F15 emerged with GNOME3, and have never looked back.

LXDE is my preferred desktop. A couple of GNOME applications are in use though, one of which is gedit.

But I have pinned gedit 2.30, as it is the last version to support macros. Works like a charm in all Fedora versions up to and including 19.

Code:
$ rpm -q gedit
gedit-2.30.4-1.fc14.x86_64
$

Re: gedit preferences

I think the global menu thingy can be disabled, but I haven't looked into it in detail.

Ah yes. There's what I'm looking for. Right under my nose. Oddly enough, I think that someone once asked a similar question about another application and I was the one who pointed to the menu bar in that case Thanks pjoh.
