    F18 x64 Skype/Nvidia conflict

    I'm trying to run skype on fedora 18 x64, but my proprietary nvidia driver is causing a segmentation fault.

    Over on some ubuntu questions, I found this answer

    "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 skype"

    which for fedora would look something like

    LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib64/libGL.so.1 skype

    however, trying the above gets me something like "LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored."

    I've installed all 32 bit versions of all of the drivers for skype 4.x and skype 2.x, and I can't get past the stupid nvidia thing breaking it. Any ideas, other than not using skype?

    Check and see if this helps:
    http://www.webupd8.org/2013/04/fix-s...untu-1304.html

    That's the best and most recent informational post about skype and nvidia I've found.

    Of course it's for ubuntu but it may still help.

    Nevermind, double checked the post and it seems like it's what you've already tried.

    Sorry buddy, good luck!

    Re: F18 x64 Skype/Nvidia conflict

    I saw someone said it worked with nvidia 319.12 beta, so I updated to that and now skype works. So I fixed the problem by updating nvidia, just hope it doesnt come back in the future.

    Re: F18 x64 Skype/Nvidia conflict

    A (perhaps) missed solution here from a new member:

    If you installed the nVidia driver as I did, you probably did it to get better graphics - accessible through optirun?

    On my system, "optirun skype" works while "skype" does not. This is for systems with Bumblebee (the nVidia CPU GPU bridge)
