I thought I could get used to it, but I can't. Where are the vertical scroll arrows? I know that's probably considered a "feature", like not being able to resize some window s, but it's not. The lack is annoying.

It's the default Gnome theme, Adwaita, it doesn't have them. Try switching to a different theme...if available, because I don't know if there is any.
Waits for someone like Dan to come along and recommend not using Gnome 3.
ADWAAAAAIIIIIITTTTAAAAA! How I dislike you, Adwaita.

Oh, you're talking about Gnome...I wouldn't know.![]()
I don't understand this thread.
I am running f18 with current updates, gnome 3 and
all my windows have scroll arrows?
I never changed the theme either!
Well you must be very special.![]()
Hi,
It seems that Gnome3 has decided scroll buttons on the scroll bar are not necessary.
This is causing me a lot of issues using Evolution in particular. If I grab the scroll bar itself - it is very hard to controll how much scrolls. If I use the up and down arrows, it doesn't scroll through the mailbox but instead selects previous and next message.
Use to be I could just click on the arrows and it would scroll a reasonable amount, But that functionallity appears to be gone. Several other things I thought were gone had a non-intuitive (at least to me) way of doing things, like double clicking on top of window to maximize or de-maximize.
What is the secret way of scrolling a window just a little at a time in Gnome 3?
Laptop w/o a scroll mouse.

Oh - Fedora 18
My Fedora 17 still has arrow buttons ;-)
Try to move your finger up and down on the right side of the touchpad.
Touchpad is disabled becase I always bump it accidentally with my wrist and I prefer to use the eraser head (Thinkpad) anyway.

Hey wow - can a moderator merge this thread into the already existing one - http://www.forums.fedoraforum.org/sh...d.php?t=289062 ??
If I want to change from Gnome to KDE, do I have to reinstall? I'm not a complete newb, I've used linux for a a few years, but never seriously and I don't know the ins and outs of it. Would it be a very involved process if it's not a complete install? I've used a few distro's in the past (Red Hat, OpenSuSe, Ubuntu, FC) and always stuck with default desktop, so I have no idea what changing desktops entails.

Changing DE is very easy. All you need to do is to install a DE. For example, if you want to install KDE, simply do
Just logout and choose the DE when you login again.Code:yum groups install KDE Plasma Workspaces
Hope that helps.
P. S. It would usually be helpful to start a new thread instead of posting in an already existing thread.
Save or add this to ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css
You'll probably need to log out and back in for it to take effect.Code:*{ -GtkScrollbar-has-backward-stepper: 1; -GtkScrollbar-has-forward-stepper: 1; }

That works. I did not need to log out, just needed to restart apps for it to take effect.
