Fedora Core2-64 and Shuttle SN85G4 installation problem...
Has anyone successfully installed Core2-64 on the Shuttle SN85G4? My installation invariably stalls out when hardware probing begins...with no errors.
Any advise?

there's a trick
Hi, it worked for me. Seems to be the usb-storage module that doesn't like the 6-in-1 card reader. Just disconnect the USB cable that leads to it and your fine. Probably a bug in usb-storage that doesn't causes it to not like being rmmod'd and then re-inserted (just guessing here).

Load the installation with the command nousbstorage, like, 'linux nousbstorage'. That is easier than disconnecting it. I have the same system.

Thanks...that go past the lockup, but now I am getting a python script failure after selecting packages to install. I didn't write it all down as it is rather lengthy. The mouse is frozen at this point, although I can still scroll the error dialog via the keyboard.
Has this happened to anyone else?

not me... but I just choose a standard workstation configuration as I'm too lazy to hand pick all the packages.

Have you tried re-downloading and re-burning disk 1? It may be bad. Since you are having USB issues you may want to try using a non-USB mouse if you are currently using a USB mouse.

I'm having the same problem.
At the bottom of the package selection menu, there is a box for choosing ALL packages, which is what I did. Right after this step the installation freezes with a python message. In my case I'm installing on a i386 system, so I suspect that it could be a software issue in the installation script rather than a hardware problem. Any clues?

I also witnessed the python exception. It occurred right after it formatted the drives but before installing any packages. I did notice that occurred when I was attempting to install onto a large partition (> 60 to 70 GB). If I set my main partition size to 60Gb, the install seemed to work. If it was 80GB, it didn't work...I would get the exception. Not sure if this really matters. I was able to successfullly install the 32 bit version (which is what I'm running now). I'll probably try FC3 64 once it's final.

I had similar problems (hangs, etc.) when attempting to install FC2 on a Shuttle
SN95G5. It turned out to be memory timing.
So, if your install media checks OK, look at memory. I don't know directly if the
SN85 allows adjusting timings or not. I set the pre-charge time from 2 to 3.
Regards....
