Heavy Javascript-load in FF browser

I have the following problem.

I am using FC3 development and have installed Firefox 1.0.
When I am visiting a webpage with some javascript-applications, FF is getting sluggy (also menues etc..) , something I did not notice on my old Windows-system. When I go to a next page, FF is not slugy anymore and the problem is gone.
Is this something Linux-like / Fedora-like or can I change some settings so this problem is gone?

An example here on the home-page itself: http://www.hayabusaclubholland.nl

Jan.

It's not Firefox - it's that particular page. It's over-use of Javascript for all that flashy functionality is pretty atrocious and has some peculiar timing calculations what it does over and over and over (which eats up CPU cycles). It's probably more optimized for IE, as well.

You were right about the javascript-load for FF.

In fact the website is mine, and I have removed the turning image and the textscroller now. The javascript-load is gone and FF is working fine.
But I never had this problem with Windows and FF, K-Meleon or IE. The page is not optimized for a special browser or something.

I was wondering if it had something to do with bad or slow javascriptsupport/ problems with Javascript in combination with Fedora Core 3 or Linux....

Greetings from Holland,
Jan.

The Javascript support should be identical - check the Firefox bugzilla and possibly submit one yourself. Sorry about the crack about "atrocious", but (as a professional) that was a lot of Javascript just to do eye-candy and didn't really add much to the site. Just my opinion, of course...

The scripts chew up 6% of my 1.7 Ghz Celeron running Mozilla on FC2, but it's hardly sluggish at all.

You'll have to pardon Jman - he's frequently late to the party...
