    Gnome won't unlock

    Hi everyone.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem - see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=885873

I have an A8-3870K and am using the Catalyst driver (I find the Radeon driver to cause tons of artifacts - but that is another story).

    gnome-shell-3.6.2-5.fc18.x86_64
    gdm-3.6.2-3.fc18.x86_64
    gnome-screensaver-3.6.1-1.fc18.x86_64
    kernel-3.6.10-4.fc18.x86_64
    xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.13.0-12.fc18.x86_64
    xorg-x11-drv-catalyst-12.11-0.3.beta11.fc18.x86_64

There has been no response from bugzilla so far.

Any thoughts?? What log files would anyone suggest I attach?

    Thanks.

    Re: Gnome won't unlock

I believe that by unlock, you mean Gnome to allow you to accept your password.
Here is how I fixed it.
Switch to terminal mode with ctl-alt-f2
once in terminal mode. do a yum update
    su root
    Enter Password
    [your root password]

    then do

    yum update -y

    Reboot

The fixes are in the many many updates since the last DVD was created.
When you reboot, after all the logons, you should be able to enter your password.

If that seems not to work,
go again to root via terminal mode
    issue passwd your_user_id

I don't think you need to do this latter step, but I wrote it here as a reminder.

    Re: Gnome won't unlock

Thanks for that but what I'm referring to is the situation described in the bugzilla. I can log in fine, but the trouble is when the screen locks. Then I can't unlock it. My system is quite up to date.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again.

I do not see this in my updates-testing vm.

    Re: Gnome won't unlock

If I were, you would post the rpm -q results of gnome-shell, gdm and gnome-sessions to Bugzilla.

From what I can see from the Description on Bugzilla, there's no such information. That might be the reason it fails to attract developer's attention.
