Desktop icons duplicated on dual-screen...?!

hi,

on my Fedora 16 LXDE dual-screen setup, desktop icons appear as duplicates on both screens ...?! huh?

it's set up as one big desktop spanning over both screens, and works fine, and always has.
icons on the left screen are where they are supposed to be (individual placement).

since yesterday all icons from left screen have a "doppelganger" on right screen.

I think the only thing I did was upgrading some packages via yum.

I don't want duplicate icons on the right screen!

can you help?

Check which packages were upgraded.
And if it's something that can be fixed in libfm/pcmanfm then you could build them from git as they're small apps: http://wiki.lxde.org/en/LXDE:PCManFM...nd_setup_guide

Note: Fedora section there is outdated. I just use
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --enable-debug
make
su -c 'make install' (su -c 'make install && ldconfig' for libfm)

If you don't want debug functionality, remove --enable-debug and use 'make install-strip'.

more information:

- if I delete an icon, it disappears on both screens

- icons can be repositioned independently (repositioning on one screen doesn't affect other screen's icon)

- dragging an icon from one to the other screen behaves like dragging an icon on only one of both screens: if an icon is already selected on target screen, it will be moved to where the icon from source screen was dragged. if no icon was already selected, no dragging/repositioning will take place.



actually this looks to me like a simple setting that has changed, something like "share-icons-on-all-screens=false" or something.... but where can I set it to "true" (or whatever)?

I have no dual screens so can't help there, but version 1.0.1 did fix some issues with dual screens IIRC.
You could maybe try renaming ~/.config/libfm and ~/.config/pcmanfm just to check if it's a conflict with the old config files.

hm. I tried renaming both dirs, then kill X (otherwise (=logout) dirs and settings are just newly created), then login again - settings are gone (icons at default/automatic positions), but still not shared but separated (each screen has it's own duplicate set of icons).

btw., I noticed that ~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/ has two files...
desktop-items-0.conf and desktop-items-1.conf
...which obviously contain separate settings for each screen.

another thing I noticed is: maybe I switched "Preferences -> Desktop -> Use the same wallpaper on all desktops", and something changed with desktop icons?
tried switching it forth and back now, no change.
