autorun on every login

running fc2 on hp ze4420us. originally had fc1 with no problems at all but wanted to update to 2. everytime i log in as user other than root, i have an autorun at startup. just has an autorun in the taskbar running and the little cd bouncing next to the pointer. then it will just stop. no cd in the drive ever. if i login as root, nothing like that; starts up fine.

By default, both KDE and Gnome have "autorun" enabled for all non-root users. For KDE, all you need to do is delete the "autorun.desktop" (or similar) from the Autostart directory. I'm not sure where it is in Gnome...

I think in Gnome If you save your session before restart/logout programs are restored on login...

Thats the way I always do it.. Setup what programs you want running where, ten logout with "Save Session" selected.. NExt time everything comes back.. will keep comming back until you change the setup and "Save Session" again.
Works pretty well.. I have Evolution and a few others start up automatically that way each login.
