Hi all.
I've recently begun using Fedora 17 on my new laptop, however I've almost immediately hit problems with a multi-monitor setup. I have searched the forum for a solution, but I haven't been able to find anything as yet, so I'm hoping someone could help me out.
Currently I can use the laptop internal monitor, and a second monitor connected via the VGA port perfectly fine. However what I'd like to do, is not use the laptop display and use the two large monitors on my desk, one is VGA, the other is DVI.
The laptop doesn't have a DVI port, however it does have an HDMI. When I connect a monitor using an HDMI -> DVI convertor, the monitor works as far as GRUB, but as soon as Fedora starts to load, the monitor turns off and isn't detected in the GNOME display application.
I've also got a docking station, which is the exact same story. I can use the VGA and internal display, but not the DVI or HDMI outputs. The DVI outputs appear in xrandr, but the HDMI port isn't listed.
I was able to get both external monitors working by installing the nVidia blob drivers, however part of my work involves me using XEN, and due to nVidia not supporting XEN, Fedora will not boot using the nVidia drivers.
I even tried rebuilding the nVidia drivers using a XEN-IGNORE-PRESENSE switch, but this didn't work.
I'm guessing that neoveau simply doesn't support my graphics card (nVidia Quadro 770 mobile) and as such I'm unable to use the HDMI ports on the laptop, or the DVI ports on the docking station.
If anyone has any advice, either with getting the nVidia drivers working with XEN, or a way of updating/tweaking the neoveau drivers, or Fedora 17 to get the monitors working, I'd be extremely grateful.
Thanks in advance.
Tony
