Unison Command help.

I executed the following command, and I got an error message.

unison /run/media/Erick/4E8CA1738CA1566D/Best_VDO /run/media/Erick/My Book/1.0 TB Volume/Best_VDO

Usage: unison [options]
or unison root1 root2 [options]
or unison profilename [options]

For a list of options, type "unison -help".
For a tutorial on basic usage, type "unison -doc tutorial".
For other documentation, type "unison -doc topics".

unison was invoked incorrectly (too many roots)

Can you help? I think it has to do with how I mounted the two disks, but I do not know exactly why.

Thanks.

Re: Unison Command help.

Have you run through a few of the tutorials

Reference Guide
This section covers the features of Unison in detail.

Running Unison
There are several ways to start Unison.

Typing “unison profile” on the command line. Unison will look for a file profile.prf in the .unison directory. If this file does not specify a pair of roots, Unison will prompt for them and add them to the information specified by the profile.

Typing “unison profile root1 root2” on the command line. In this case, Unison will use profile, which should not contain any root directives.

Typing “unison root1 root2” on the command line. This has the same effect as typing “unison default root1 root2.”

Typing just “unison” (or invoking Unison by clicking on a desktop icon). In this case, Unison will ask for the profile to use for synchronization (or create a new one, if necessary).

Re: Unison Command help.

I see. I probably need this command first -> unison root1 root2

I received this message when executing the command unison root1 root2.

unison root1 root2

Re: Unison Command help.

You probably need to escape the spaces or put the paths into quotes.
first remove the files it mentions and then try again.
Also unison is more convenient when you use profiles instead of the long direct cli commands.

You have to escape the spaces ;-)

Code:
unison /run/media/Erick/4E8CA1738CA1566D/Best_VDO /run/media/Erick/My\ Book/1.0\ TB\ Volume/Best_VDO
