    Cant evaluate _crs: 12298

    Hey all!

I was working with my laptop and it went to critical low power and before I had the chance to plug in power it froze itself (not hibernation...) and the only way to do anything was to hold down the power button....

Now when I start the computer I just get stuck with the message: "Cant evaluate _crs: 12298" and I cant move on from this in any way... Also if I try to boot with the Fedora 17 CD I get stuck on the same message...

What does this error mean and how do I solve it? (I have already tried to google it with no success and I am fairly new to linux)

    Re: Cant evaluate _crs: 12298

I should point out that I haven't seen this problem, but here are some ideas. Are you sure it is booting the CD and not the disk image (check the priorities in the BIOS)? If it is, then I would try a different liveCD from another distribution (not to go there permanently, but to rule out any issue with the Fedora disk!).

I did find this on Google: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...a-12-a-780467/

The suggestion there is to pass "noacpi" to the kernel from the boot screen - you could try that:
    • Turn on the computer
    • Press e on the initial grub screen to edit the entry you normally boot before it starts to load. Add " noacpi" (without quotes) at the end of the line which starts "linux \vmlinuz" (near the bottom of the script)
    • Press F10 to boot.

    Good luck!
