Cant install Virtualbox 4.2 over 4.1

I found Virtualbox 4.2 had appeared (but not as an update) so I tried to install it but it complains that several modules conflict:-

Test Transaction Errors: file /etc/rc.d/init.d/vboxdrv from install of VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.0_80737_fedora17-1.i686 conflicts with file from package VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.22_80657_fedora17-1.i686
file /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxBalloonCtrl from install of VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.0_80737_fedora17-1.i686 conflicts with file from package VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.22_80657_fedora17-1.i686
file /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxHeadless from install of VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.0_80737_fedora17-1.i686 conflicts with file from package VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.22_80657_fedora17-1.i686
file /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxManage from install of VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.0_80737_fedora17-1.i686 conflicts with file from package VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.22_80657_fedora17-1.i686
file /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxSDL from install of VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.0_80737_fedora17-1.i686 conflicts with file from package VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.22_80657_fedora17-1.i686
file /usr/bin/VBoxTunctl from install of VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.0_80737_fedora17-1.i686 conflicts with file from package VirtualBox-4...

Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with the package?

Stuart

Re: Cant install Virtualbox 4.2 over 4.1

try removing virtualbox 4.1 before installing 4.2

I have found in the past that sometimes their major version updates aren't really upgradeable, which isd probably why it didn't show as an update to your 4.1 install.

Re: Cant install Virtualbox 4.2 over 4.1

I did wonder but looking at the Depends On it shows the previous 4.1 release. Anyway I'll try removing 4.1 and see if it will then install but somehow I doubt it!

Well I just removed 4.1.22 and install 4.2.0 and all went just fine. I was just a little confused when 4.1.22 was listed in the Depends On section but hey it worked without it.
