Can't update or install software

Persistent usb live mode, Fedora 17: GNOME 3

I keep receiving this error when trying to install software or updates. For reference, Fedora randomly rebooted on me during update and I don't believe it finished updating either.

This is the error: There are unfinished transactions remaining. Please run yum-complete-transaction as root.

have you tried doing what the message told oyu to do?

su -
(root password)

yum-complete-transaction

Would it be possible to do this as "Live System User"? I haven't bothered making a user on Fedora just yet. I don't have any knowledge on gaining root access or becoming root on Fedora.

root user is already created for you.

Just hit enter when asked for the root password.

Open a terminal window and run the commands I put above.
