Wavesurfer not working in F17

Can someone help me out ...
I need to know from scratch how to install and start up wavesurfer .. Im using fedora 17...
So far ive looked up on the dependencies.. and ive installed ... tk... tcl-snack ... using yum install...
ive also installed some other dependencies like glibc and libstdc++ ....
I downloaded the wavesurfer tarball from sourceforge and ive extracted it. I pasted that executble file in the bin folder
if i type wavesurfer in the terminal i get the following error...
application-specific initialization failed: couldn't open "setup.tcl": no such file or directory

i'd be really happy if someone helps me out...
