Lotus Notes 8.5.4 on Fedora 17

It works, BUT it shoud be Lotus Notes 8.5.4 candidate 4 (avilable for selected cusomers and IBM'er only)

Code:
yum install libXp libgnomeprintui22 gnome-desktop
Code:
yum install libpng tcsh
it will install libpng 1.5 while Lotus Notes requires 1.2
run with --nodeps:

Code:
rpm --nodeps -i ibm_lotus_notes-8.5.4.i586.rpm notes854_SEAddon_linux_rpm_cd4_prod.rpm
do not install libpng10 -- it will not work with this legacy library.

new UI looks very fresh and much more stable

ask your IBM representative for promotion key

It's not so different than previous versions. Just a newer gtk+-

Btw, note there are a lot of NSFW ads in that link. It was difficult to locate the Notes screenshot among them

I had only one problem with this installation:
when openning Local Adress Book (User's Contacts on Local)
the client hung...
solution was as easy as upgrading to the latest database design from the server to version 8.5 I haven't upgraded design of this database fro ages.

I am surprised -- no more hacks, no more *.so.0 from there and where... no more damned-blinking cursor and unrendered text, no more tears... COOL!
