Re: does grub2 is necessary

Grub2 is necessary considering the fact that grub-legacy is abandoned by the upstream.
I 'm not aware of any special upgrade procedure. preupgrade must do it.

Re: does grub2 is necessary

I had Grub1 on my Fedora 15 partition, and used to boot from that. I wanted to get rid of the F15 partition just after F17 came out, so I simply installed Grub2 on the F16 partition before wiping the old F15. Easy.

So I am now booting with the F16 Grub2, but with F17 as the default. No big deal.

Re: does grub2 is necessary

Finaly i solved my grub problem
But i'm stuck with a yum bug, stupid duplicate package
So i decided to start from scratch with a f17 fresh install
And reinstall my oracle and mysql database and the web server
I hope my next upgrade will go better
